Overview:
St. Lucia is one of those mesmerizing islands that you will never forget! Maybe it’s the majestic Pitons (famous mountain peaks) or perhaps the sparkling blue sea that leaves you breathless and feeling in heaven! This is the kind of place you see on postcards or pretty much any article on romantic honeymoon getaways that has you dreaming of your next vacation! There are white sandy beaches, snorkeling adventures, Caribbean’s only drive-in Volcano, prestigious yachting marinas, and ofcourse plenty of culinary experiences to choose from! I am so thrilled to be sharing one of my all-time favorite destinations with you so keep reading to find out what makes St. Lucia and Calabash Cove Resort an unforgettable stay in the Caribbean!
Location & Getting There:
Calabash Cove Resort is located on a hillside with stunning views of Bonaire Bay, right between Rodney Bay and Castries for convenient access to both towns. There are plenty of daily flights and major Airlines servicing the main Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) in the south of the island and the smaller George F. L. Charles Airport (SLU) located in Castries. You can see the lush landscape of the island if you happen to be flying during the daytime, we were blown away and even more excited at our first glimpse of the towering mountains, the petit and gros piton! Our experience with Calabash Cove Resort started smoothly at the airport when we were greeted by their friendly staff waiting to take us to our home away from home for the next 3 nights! The journey to the property is about 75 min minutes from UVF and only 20 minutes from SLU by car. Alternately, if you want to feel an adrenaline rush and experience the most incredible journey, you can also opt for a Helicopter transfer with views you will never forgot. Talk about a VIP entry!
Accommodation:
For ultimate relaxation and privacy, I recommend staying at the luxury Water’s Edge Cottages! We loved having a separate living room and bedroom divided by a door so it always stays cool! The highlight is ofcourse the private plunge pool where we loved catching the sunset over the sea while popping a bottle of champagne! The staff go above and beyond to cater to your every need with a friendly smile, they definitely made our experience here feel very well taken care of! Be sure to take advantage of the room service menu included with your All Inclusive plan! Our food was always fresh and the service was quite fast given how far the cottages are from the kitchen! You might find yourself having a tough time leaving your room, especially with the outdoor hammocks and a rain shower that blends nature with the ultimate luxury comfort! The water’s edge cottages do require a minimum 5 night stay, so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.
Some other room types include the Swim Up Jr. Suites where you are just steps away from your front door to the infinity pool facing the turquoise colors of the Caribbean sea. The Sunset Ocean View Jr. Suites feature a spacious living space that opens up to a private terrace where you can enjoy a scrumptious St. Lucian breakfast with breathtaking views of the sea and the infinity pool down below!
Restaurants & Dining:
Awaken your culinary senses with dishes inspired by the Caribbean flavors! With the All Inclusive option, you can experience their unique menu that blends West Indies with an Asian flair! You have access to top shelf liquor, an international wine list, 3 course meals, and the daily specials! My personnel favorite was definitely having the traditional St Lucian breakfast; salt fish, bakes, cucumber salad, boiled egg, green banana and avocado on our balcony overlooking the calm morning sea! The chefs use locally grown fresh ingredients and you can really taste that with every bite, we almost ordered the entire menu!
Dining with a view! The popular Windsong Restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and offers unobstructed views of the mesmerizing Caribbean Sea at sunset! Every night, we loved looking forward to dressing up and walking to dinner through the romantic garden pathway lit by the sunset glow and starting the night with delicious drinks at the C Bar located in the restaurant!
During the day, you can feel the warm Caribbean sun while sipping on a Pina Colada at the Swim Up Pool Bar! You definitely have to try the Roti Chicken and fried shrimp for lunch or snack, I had at least once almost every day!
Amenities:
Awaken your senses at the Ti Spa! They offer a wide range of massages, facials, body therapy, and grooming to name a few! We indulged in the signature Island Romance couples massage which is an excellent choice to feel the pressures on your body melt away with the gentle yet firm hands of the talented masseuses! You can also choose to experience the ultimate luxury spa treatment in an ocean facing gazebo located at the center of the property where you can hear the calming ocean waves and feel the gentle island breeze!
Adventures:
When you manage to pull yourself away from the comfort of your room, why not explore the island and discover what makes St.Lucia the most unique island in the Caribbean! The amazing Team at Calabash Cove will arrange any tour or activity to make your stay even more unforgettable! They have an entire catalog of excursions to choose from, from snorkel and dive trips to sailing off into the sunset along the dramatic mountainous coast with a glass of champagne. I highly recommend the Tout Bagay Catamaran Day Tour that takes you along the west coast to visit the famous drive in volcano to experience a cooling mud bath, swim under a waterfall, discover Marigot Bay, and of course sail by the dramatic petit and gros pitons with a rum punch in hand and a delicious buffet lunch!
Summary:
Calabash Cove Resort and Spa, an adult’s only boutique resort along a soft sand secluded beach with hills lined of tropical trees brings you to a slower more relaxed pace of life. Did I mention this was our 2nd time back to St. Lucia and I am already planning our next trip? The beauty of the island combined with world class service make this a special place for us, and we have traveled all over the world! Whether you are going on your perfect romantic honeymoon or just need some time away from the busy daily life (we met an author who stayed for a month while writing his book), be sure to have St. Lucia and the Calabash Cove Resort at the top of your list!
