Overview

Andaz Costa Rica Resort is perfectly set among the lush Costa Rican forest hugging the relaxing waters of Culebra bay with lots of diverse wildlife that will be sure to capture your attention! This is a luxury resort located on Costa Rica’s northwest coast. You can easily fly into the closest Liberia Airport through any major international airline and arrange a private car pick up directly through Andaz Resort for a smooth arrival door to door! We loved the chill laid back vibes and the attention to detail from the amazing staff who fulfilled our every wish to make our stay an unforgettable getaway from our normally busy lives! Everyone is sure to be pleased from families looking for an activity filled trip to couples looking to just unwind and relax, we honestly did not feel the need to leave the property at all during our 4 day stay at this jungle retreat!

Accommodation

There are over 150 rooms including 21 suites featuring sleek and modern décor that seamlessly blends the tropical atmosphere with luxury design! The highlight of our king bed bay view room was definitely the river stone rain shower that completely opens up to the private terrace with views of the sparkling bay waters! Oh and how could I forget the massive floor to ceiling windows facing the Culebra Bay that we woke up to every day! No matter how much fun we had throughout the day around the resort, we always looked forward to retreating to our spacious slice of jungle paradise!

Dining

There are so many impressive dining options to experience the vivid flavors of Latin America and its fresh local ingredients!

On our first night we had an incredible dinner watching the sunset at Chao Pesco, where we sampled small plates from around the world while listening to live music under the twinkling outdoor lights! The drinks here are also pretty amazing and really a perfect setting to just unwind and chill!

The next day we savored an absolutely delicious breakfast with a view overlooking the river inspired pools with the bay off the in the distance at Rio Bhongo Restaurant. You can choose from the buffet and the a la carte options for a complete balanced breakfast. The most unique aspect of this restaurant is the freshly squeezed juice bar and the all-day coffee bar serving up fresh barista drinks.

You can also choose to dine in the comfort of your suite or villa for a more personalized and private morning in your terrace!

On our last night we had a memorable private multi-course dinner with the chef in a very romantic setting!  Every dish was beautifully presented with a specialized menu just for us! It was raining that night so we ended up dining in the Patio Kitchen, however normally you can choose from various locations on site like the Beach House or even poolside.

Beaches

Andaz Costa Rica Resort offers many inclusions such as the use of kayaks and snorkeling equipment at the Beach House (a scenic short complimentary boat ride away) or the Sombrero Oscuro beach easily accessible through a stairway from the main pools.

Pools

Choose from 3 pools to lounge and relax in with that perfect refreshing fruity drink in hand. We really liked the adult only pool which was great for morning laps while the sun was rising, you can peek out into the bay through the lush forest surrounding it. One morning we got in the pool early enough to see several monkeys jumping from tree to tree, it was very exciting to catch them in action!

Activities

We really enjoyed going on a guided kayaking tour, the best part was stopping in the middle to take a refreshing dip in the water surrounded by tall cliffs! All of these activities are offered exclusively for Andaz Peninsula Papagayo guests.

Another activity I highly recommended is winding down the evening before dinner with an interactive and informative mixology class to make your own perfect cocktail! It was really interesting to see how all the ingredients and fun garnishes come together to create such a unique drink catered just to our liking!

Summary

This is one of the nicest eco-friendly resorts that we have stayed at, the service and amenities are absolutely top notch and we really felt well looked after. The resort caters to families, couples, and friends with the perfect blend of relaxation and activities to suit everyone’s interest. It’s the ultimate getaway to experience being surrounded by nature and the sea while still being pampered by modern luxury elements. We are already dreaming of returning to this beautiful property and exploring more of Costa Rica!
